My tattoos.Danger Days SpiderMy first tattoo, I got this done the day after the 4th time I saw MCR.I wanted it to be something that stood out as MCR, but not obviously, like for instance ‘MCR’ on my wrist. There are people out there who don’t know My Chemical Romance, so it’s nice to tell the story of who they are and what they mean to me when they ask what the spider is for.The Black Parade Marching Man/Welcome To The Black Parade lyrics.This has more meaning than you’d probably think. This tattoo is a tribute to my terminally ill Grandfather. He is suffering from alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and Skin Cancer. His memory has practically gone, he doesn’t recognise anyone, or even himself when he see’s his reflection in the mirror. When I last went to visit him at the home he stays in, he didn’t remember who I was, and was not the same person anymore. My Grandfather wasn’t there anymore, just a shell. It was the most painful and emotional experience I’ve ever gone through in my life and it was very difficult to come to terms with it. It’s hard to grieve for a loss when they aren’t quite gone yet. After I left the home I wanted to be left alone for a while, to gather my thoughts and calm down. I listened to ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ and it was as if the band knew what I was going through, like the song was written for that moment right there. ‘Although you’re dead and gone believe me, your memory will carry on’. That song reminds me of my Grandfather, while he is still physically with us today, he is no longer there inside, and although he has gone, the memories of who he was, what he was like and how much I loved him will never be forgotten. He will carry on in my memories forever. I wanted to get this tattoo for that reason, when I walked out of that home, because I felt that song emotionally connected me straight away to what I was going through. It means so much to me.
